CrispyStixs - An Etsy Shop by Gior Dior
Throughout my first Etsy experience selling stickers, I’ve had to learn to create product pictures, product descriptions, and a product worth selling. Product pictures can be done in various ways, but I’ve found having a plain background with good lighting really makes the difference. Also, Adobe lightroom and photoshop are basically a must for professional product photos. These frustrating moments of learning complex programs have really paid off. Now, I can create product pictures for any product I choose to start selling.
Traffic will organically come your way. Etsy encourages you to market your product, but if this is your first go around, don’t waste your precious money. You need to find a way to catch other viewers' eyes, which is the ultimate way to gain customer retention. It took me about 3 months to really see traffic come to my shop. This started a snowball effect, the more views the more organic traffic that has come my way. I suggest you be patient and let customers come to you.
There was a time when I got the idea to sell NFL stickers in my shop. I knew this was probably illegal, but the NFL makes so much money, and “technically” I’m still adding my craft to the product. I added all 32 teams and overnight my shop exploded. It was like Christmas, except the grinch was right around the corner to steal everything. Like clockwork, Etsy has an AI program that targeted my infringing posts and took everything down. What I learned, posting 32 products took an immense amount of time and it ultimately was not worth the short success. If I could go back, I would have made my own designs to limit the amount of wasted time. The moral of the story is don’t be a fraud or take shortcuts, you will be caught.
This experience of selling stickers has led me to want to create two more shops; Beeswax Lip Balm, and Fitness clothing. I will soon be opening my Lip Balm shop as an organic alternative to the industrialization of lip balms. My customers will receive an organic product, with great ingredients, and an environmentally friendly solution to chapped lips. The fitness wear shop is in the works but will allow me to learn silk screening and bring products that I believe make your lifting journey a fashion statement. The name is to be decided, but I really like the name “clof.”or “Gior Dior”, the names are just iconic. I will keep you posted on my progress, so stay tuned if you are looking to learn from my experiences. Cheers!
