The In-Between

There’s this space no one really prepares you for, the in-between.
It’s not where you started, and it’s not quite where you’re going.
It’s not failure, but it’s not arrival either.
It’s just… the middle.
I’ve been here for a while now.
That middle ground between who I was and who I’m trying to become. Some days it feels like I’m in a hamster wheel. Other days, I swear I can feel the ground shifting, like I’m on to something.
What I’ve learned is this: if you haven’t quit yet, there’s a reason.
That’s your mind realizing how much this matters.
Because when something isn’t meant for you, you drift.
You find something new, something easier, something that doesn't test you this deeply.
But when something is meant for you, you stay. Even when it’s slow. Even when it hurts. Even when you’ve convinced yourself this won't work. Something deep down won’t let you walk away.
That pull is your sign.
It’s proof that you're headed North.
The in-between exists for a reason.
It’s not punishment, it’s preparation.
You have to go through it, because this won’t be your last time here.
The truth is, you and I will spend our whole careers in different phases of this in-between. Every new chapter will come with its own version of uncertainty.
This stage, it’s the first step.
It’s teaching you how to handle the waiting, the silence, the self doubt.
Later, when the stakes are higher, so is the pressure… you’ll be able to stand in it with clarity. You’ll remember this exact season and realize it was training. And one day, when everything you’ve been working towards finally shows up, you’ll realize it wasn’t luck or timing.
It was you.
